History

Edinburgh Divers was founded in 1953 and incorporated as Branch 21 with the British Sub Aqua Club, BSAC, in 1954.

As one of the oldest diving clubs in Britain, we have seen many changes and developments in kit from wetsuits to semi-drys to dry suits, from twin to single hose, from Fenzy 'horse collar' buoyancy compensators to stab jackets, but what has not changed is the desire to explore the underwater world and to share these experiences with like-minded people.

We have organised trips to the Red Sea, Cuba, Iceland, Chuuk/Truk Lagoon, Orkney/Scapa Flow, Shetland, St Kilda, Farne Islands. But there is also so much exciting and beautiful diving on our immediate doorstep; Bass Rock, Isle of May, St Abbs, Eyemouth, Dunbar, etc, and we take advantage of it all.
